JOIN OUR PEACE CREW

WHAT ARE YOUR GIFTS?

The Peace Crew is our team of volunteers. As part of our crew, you are what makes the church possible. There is a lot of work that goes into building a thriving community, but it is also so rewarding to be able to discover and express our gifts, and deeper our relationships with one another. No matter who you are, there is a place for you on our Peace Crew.

Faith Formation Teacher

Description

Are you a kid at heart? Then teaching Faith Formation to children is the ministry opportunity for you! This is a great way to educate yourself and spend time with our younger friends while building bonds that will have a life-long impact. Lesson plans are simple, detailed, and fun with minimal preparation involved. Sign up to teach class (9:45 - 10:45a) for a certain amount of Sundays of the year. YOU WILL NOT BE REQUIRED TO TEACH EVERY SUNDAY, only the Sundays that you sign up for. Also, there will always be another adult, called a shepherd, in the classroom to assist you. All lessons and materials will be provided for you ahead of time.

Expectations

  • Attend a teacher training August 8th @ 10:15-11:30a OR August 9th @ 6:30-7:45p.

  • Sign up to help decorate and prepare the classrooms during the week of August 23rd.

  • Attend a monthly meeting which will provide the opportunity to connect with other teachers and shepherds, ask questions, give feedback, improve our program, and sign up for subsequent Sundays.

  • Prep for class (approximately 1 hour) by reading through the lesson you are going to teach, becoming familiar with the material and understanding how you will approach teaching the lesson (staff can help if you have any questions).

  • Have a background check (good for 3 years).

  • If there is a conflict, find coverage for your assigned Sunday.

  • Pick up classroom and return your craft bin and attendance binder to the Resource Room at the end of class.

Faith Formation Shepherd

We welcome everyone, regardless of physical or mental ability, relationship status, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, age and religious affiliation.

WE EMBRACE ALL

Description

Individuals who participate in this ministry will spend their time assisting the teacher while he or she leads the lesson. This supportive role provides an opportunity to help the children complete and fully understand the days’ lesson. Maintaining discipline and encouraging participation are the primary roles of this position. Individuals get to know each child, their personality, and their learning style, and to help them learn of the wonder of God’s love. The expectations for shepherds are almost the same as for teachers with a few minor differences. Please read through teacher description and expectations and see below.

Expectations

  • All of the expectations for teachers are the same for shepherds, except reviewing the week's lesson ahead of time is optional, and

  • For grades pre K through 3rd, attend music time with the children from 9:40 - 10a.

  • For grades 4 through 12 go directly to classroom.
