Worship

Peace United Church of Christ celebrates God’s Still Speaking Word. Our messages inspire and challenge us to connect scripture and faith as it relates to issues in our daily lives, and the wider community and world around us. Our rich diversity of music inspires us and opens our hearts God’s inspiration. Our love and affirmation for all people creates a dynamic family who are called to serve and share in the world. We encourage members to experience the Spirit no matter how they look or what they wear. Prayers for our world and community (with an opportunity to lift up your own special prayer request), and a special time focused with children in mind.

CELEBRATING CHILDREN IN WORSHIP

It is our belief that children and youth are the church of today and openly welcome them in our worship services. It is our desire that

families will worship together and use available opportunities to discuss the Scripture lesson, worship experiences, and their involvement in the Christian community as they go about their daily lives.

CHILD CARE DURING WORSHIP

Child care is available in the Nursery, Room 118, for infants and children (birth to 3 years old). However, we encourage parents to attend worship with their children.

CELEBRATING COMMUNION

Communion is served the first Sunday of each month at our worship services. All are welcome to partake of the bread and cup at Christ’s table.

TRADITIONAL WORSHIP – SUNDAY MORNINGS @ 8:30 AM*
(*note:  only ONE service @ 10:30am on 5/21/17, 5/28/17, 6/4/17, 7/2/17, 8/6/17, 9/3/17)

The 8:30 am service is more traditional with a combination of old and new songs, presented in a variety of ways (from classical to jazz) to lift up the diversity of our worshiping communities. Our Choir of Peace, The Bells of Peace, Choir Ensembles, and individual special music offerings provide a beautiful backdrop to our worship. The service does provide a more traditional feel and provides beautiful liturgy throughout the service. Click HERE for Sunday’s order of worship services.

CONTEMPORARY WORSHIP – SUNDAY MORNINGS @ 11:00 AM*
(*note:  only ONE service @ 10:30am on 5/21/17, 5/28/17, 6/4/17, 7/2/17, 8/6/17, 9/3/17)

The Contemporary Service is lively, energetic and joyful. It is a big family celebration. Contemporary music (including secular songs) centers our service around a common theme for the day. Our ONEVOICE Praise Band and ONEVOICE Singers provide incredible music worship leadership for this service, bringing inspiration for all. This service is much more informal and provides a wonderful opportunity to gather in an informal setting. Click HERE for Sunday’s order of worship services.

Nursery Care

We are very grateful to have 35 adult volunteers that teach and shepherd our children and youth on Sunday mornings. Many of these volunteers would not able to teach or shepherd if we did not have nursery volunteers to watch over their children during the Faith Formation hour. Additionally, other parents utilize our nursery from 8:15am-12pm during the school year. It is the expectation at Peace that if your child utilizes the nursery or attends Faith Formation that you will volunteer in some aspect on Sunday morning; this is a necessary expectation in order to offer our nursery and Faith Formation classes to all children and youth. In order to follow our safe church policy, we need 2 persons (who pass our background check), to commit to volunteering in the nursery for 1 hour per month. Our nursery shifts are:

  • 8:15am – 9:30am
  • 9:30am – 10:45am
  • 10:45am – 12:00pm

Please contact Theresa Diekvoss to sign up theresascottdiekvoss@hotmail.com.

“Safe Church” Nursery Sign-In/Pick-Up Policy:

All parents/guardians signing in, must take a wrist band for each child. The attendance form must be signed at drop-off and pick-up and the wrist band number written clearly on the form. Children will only be released to an adult with the matching numbered wrist band. If a wrist band is misplaced, the adult who signed the child in will need to show a photo ID to retrieve the child. The nursery attendant will also sign the sheet by the adult’s name and indicate that the number was lost.

We ask that all children have a Faith Formation Enrollment Form filled out. This can be found via our web site (under forms). Our Nursery is open from:

  • Summer months (June – Aug): 10:45 – 12:15 covering our Contemporary worship services
  • Fall/winter months (Sept – May): 8:15am-12pm, covering our Traditional Worship service, our Faith Formation hour, and our Contemporary Worship service

*In order to assure the safety of our children and youth, all adult volunteers have been cleared through a background check and have signed our Safe Church policies.

We are excited to transition to our NEW Nursery area on Sunday, September 10 (Rally Day).  In preparation for this, there are some items for our Nursery Wish List that we are seeking.  If you have anything to donate, please drop them off at the Welcome Desk:
